2nd Sunday of Lent

3/12/2017

Dear Families and Friends of St. Anthony,

Now that we are in the holy season of Lent, there are a few things to be aware of such as almsgiving and acts of charity, penitential prayer, fasting and abstinence.
These practices are designed to foster reconciliation and purification, and to draw us closer to God as we prepare to celebrate the Easter Sacraments.

All Catholics from the age of 14 are expected to abstain entirely from meat on Ash Wednesday and on all Fridays in Lent. Catholics between the ages of 18-59 are expected to fast on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday.

This means limiting oneself to a single full meal and avoiding food between meals. Two other small meals, which together do not equal a full meal, may be taken during the day.

Those whose work or health would be impaired may be excused from fast and abstinence. Individual conscience should decide proper cause for excuse. A serious reason is required to excuse oneself from Ash Wednesday and Good Friday fast and abstinence.

Our Lenten Soup Supper starts at 6:00PM followed by bilingual Stations of the Cross on all Fridays of Lent and of course our 8:00PM-11:00PM Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament. It is important that the ministries of the parish are well-represented.  Hope to see you then.

Peace and Blessings,                           Fr. Ken

Paz y Bendiciones,                     Padre Ken
