My Dear Parishioners,
(Thank you Fr. Ray Zielezinski for the inspiration)

There is a better thing than the observance of Christmas Day, and that is, keeping Christmas.

Are you willing . . .
  • to forget what you have done for other people, and to remember what other people have done for you;
  • to ignore what the world owes you, and to think what you owe the world;
  • to put your rights in the background, and your duties in the middle distance, and your chances to do a little more than your duty in the foreground;
  • to see that men and women are just as real as you are, and try to look behind their faces to their hearts, hungry for joy;
  • to own up to the fact that probably the only good reason for your existence is not what you are going to get out of life, but what you are going to give to life;
  • to close your book of complaints against the management of the universe, and look around you for a place where you can sow a few seeds of happiness?
  • Are you willing to do these things even for a day?Then you can keep Christmas.

    Are you willing . . .
  • to stoop down and consider the needs and desires of little children;
  • to remember the weakness and loneliness of people growing old;
  • to stop asking how much your friends love you, and ask yourself whether you love them enough;
  • to bear in mind the things that other people have to bear in their hearts;
  • to try to understand what those who live in the same home with you really want, without waiting for them to tell you;
  • to trim your lamp so that it will give more light and less smoke, and to carry it in front so that your shadow will fall behind you;
  • to make a grave for your ugly thoughts, even for a day?Then you can keep Christmas.

    Are you willing . . .
  • to believe that love is the strongest thing in the world –
    Stronger than hate, stronger than evil, stronger than death –
    And that the blessed life which began in Bethlehem two thousand years ago is the image and brightness of Eternal Love?

    Then you can keep Christmas………………..and if you can keep Christmas for one day, why not always?

    A Truly Blessed and Merry Christmas,

    Happy and Prosperous New Year to all of you!

                                                                                                                                        With much love,
                                                                                                                     Fr. Ken
    Mis queridos parroquianos,
    (y gracias Padre Rey Zielezinski por la inspiración)

    Hay una forma mejor de observar el Día de Navidad, y es, acogiendo  la Navidad.
    Estas dispuesto a…………

    Olvidarte de lo que has hecho por otros, y recordar solo lo que otra gente ha hecho por ti;

    Ignorar lo que el mundo te debe, y pensar que es lo que TU le debes al mundo;

    Poner tus derechos detrás, y tus deberes a media distancia, y tus oportunidades de hacer un poco más que tus deberes por delante;

    Ver que hombres y mujeres son tan reales como tú lo eres, y tratar de ver detrás de sus caras ver sus corazones, hambrientos de gozo;

    De cerrar tu libro de quejas en contra del creador del universo, y ver alrededor tuyo buscando un lugar en donde sembrar algunas semillas de felicidad?

    Estas dispuesto a hacer estas cosas solo por un día? entonces te puedes quedar con la Navidad.

    Estas dispuesto a….

    Considerar las necesidades de los niños pequeños;

    Recordar las debilidades y la soledad de la gente que se está haciendo anciana;

    Dejar de preguntar cuanto te aman tus amigos, y preguntarte si tú los amas lo suficiente;

    A tratar de comprender  a esos que viven en la misma casa contigo, que es lo que realmente necesitan sin esperar a que te lo digan;

    A hacer una tumba para tus malos pensamientos, y un jardín para tus buenos sentimientos
    Dejando la puerta abierta;

    Estas dispuesto a hacer todas estas cosas, siquiera por un día? Entonces si Puedes acoger  la Navidad.

    Estas dispuesto  a……..
    Creer que el AMOR es el sentimiento más fuerte en el mundo –
    Más fuerte que el ODIO, más fuerte que el demonio, más fuerte de la muerte –
    Y que la vida bendita que empezó en Belén hace dos mil años es la imagen y el esplendor
    Del Amor Eterno ? entonces SI puedes acoger la Navidad.

    Y si puedes acoger  la Navidad por UN DIA……porque no SIEMPRE ?

    Feliz Navidad y Prospero Año nuevo a todos!

    Con mucho amor,                    Padre Ken
